Mother's Day is observed across a wide range of relationships. In addition to adult or child- to-mother/grandmother and husband-to-wife, the celebration now extends to daughter, sister, aunts, mothers of loved ones, friends and any others who play a mother-like role.

Potato-Crusted Quiche with Smoked Cheddar & Canadian Bacon
This quiche also makes a simple and delicious dinner served with mixed green salad and some crusty bread.

Nonstick vegetable oil spray
1 1/4 pounds russet potatoes, peeled, sliced into 1/4- inch rounds

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped red bell pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1 cup diced Canadian bacon

8 large eggs
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
4 ounces smoked cheddar cheese, grated (about 1 cup packed)

  • Take a family photo each year
  • Create a Mother's Day scrapbook keepsake, in which children write their thoughts and feelings underneath each year's photograph
  • For older children, what has your mother tried to teach you that she feels you just don't get? Maybe it's how to be considerate, or thoughtful, or prompt, honest. Think about what seems to be really important to her. Write mom a note for Mother's Day about the value and what you have learned from her about it--and then put words into action by taking the next opportunity to demonstrate to her that you do "get it".
  • Replace Buying New Stuff with Sharing "Old Stuff", A hope chest or cedar chest filled with keepsakes that evoke family memories. I know my children, are 17 and 20, and we love to go through the hope chest. We have so much fun reminiscing about the superman outfit my son would never take off, or the western skirt with leather vest that my daughter loved, because she wanted to be a cowgirl when she grew up. Share the memories and feelings these keepsakes evoke for your family.

    Mother's Day Placemats......

Imagine a sink-into-it sofa covered in a mixture of plush, tapestry and chenille, then trimmed with long eyelash fringe; or a period-style accent chair covered in a bold, playful plaid. More and more are gravitating towards wonderful and unexpected mixtures of classic furniture styles dressed up to have some fun. This is a company that offers plenty of design options and encourages creativity with the hundreds of fabrics they presently offer. Go for that signature piece in your home. A custom sofa, chair or ottoman that expresses your individuality can be created.

Details, Details.....Delightful Details This season, the classic look of beautifully-tailored, fitted backs and sculptural arms are emphasized by decorative trims and interesting kick-pleats. Interesting cording, twisted brocade and long, loopy eyelash fringe are all the rage for dressing up a sofa, chair or ottoman.....and don't forget about nail heads. Oversized or miniature, these are a handsome detail. Think of trim as that special personal accessory. Just like your wardrobe, the unexpected details are the ones that give your furniture a touch of personalty and give it that pulled together look. Shop for excellent craftsmanship, high-quality fabrics and materials that will withstand the test of time and use. That way, your sofa investment will last 10-15 years.

End your promotion with a kick -- consider a postscript to reinforce one of the key product or service benefits.

    Sincerely,
